Can I get my Brows or Lips Tattooed at Manor Ink if I have previous work done elsewhere?
For all previous Tattoo work, it is essential to understand that you may or may not be an ideal candidate for further procedures at Manor Ink. If your brows are too saturated with existing colour, too dark, dense, discoloured, or large, you may need removal sessions first, and results are not guaranteed.
A face-to-face consultation is required as we need to assess whether previous work can be covered up or reworked.
Do you touch up other artists work/do cover ups?
Yes, you will need to come in for a free face to face consultation to make sure the products and techniques I use will be suitable for you. If not I will refer you.

What is Cosmetic Tattooing?
Cosmetic Tattooing also referred to as permanent makeup, deposits coloured pigment into the skin. Cosmetic Tattooing can dramatically reshape sparse, poorly arched and uneven eyebrows, adding colour and fullness to Brows.
A lip Tattoo adds definition and colour to the lips, creating a fullness.
You may want a bright, bold lipstick look or a soft, natural lip stain. Please feel free to bring your favourite lip product as a guide.
Lip Tattooing - The colour you pick will look different on everyone as we all start with a different natural base, and there is no guarantee the pigment you pick will be exactly like your favourite lipstick/gloss.
A lip tattoo generally lasts 2-5 years, depending on your health and lifestyle. Please note that a lip tattoo differs from a lip filler and will not give you volume.
What is the difference between nano hair stroke brows, powder brows, and combination brows?
Nano hair stroke brows: a technique of placing tiny individual hair-like strokes using a machine with a tiny nanoneedle.
Powder brows: a powdered technique to create either a soft, shaded natural look or a bolder, dense powdered makeup look. They are more suitable for specific skin types, i.e., oily skin and mature skin. This is the most common Brow Tattoo technique for about 90% of clients.
Combination brows: A combination of both techniques
Does cosmetic tattooing hurt?
At Manor Ink, two types of topical anesthetic cream/gel are applied to numb the area before and during the procedure. It is essential to understand that pain threshold levels vary from person to person.
Personal circumstances, such as the timing of a menstrual cycle, may increase discomfort throughout the procedure, and the topical anesthetic may lose its intensity for regular smokers.
If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (chronic pain), be conscious that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.
What happens at your appointment?
Do you need to completely shave off the eyebrows first?? NO! Absolutely not! I will usually tidy the surrounding area first with a disposable razor and/or tweezers.
A skin analysis will be undertaken. This will predict how the skin will hold the pigment and which technique is best suited for you. I will then work out a perfect colour that suits your skin tone.
We will go through a very in-depth measuring and outlining process until you are completely happy before we begin your procedure.
Remembering that every face has two sides, which are not precisely the same, we aim for symmetry, but we also know brows are sisters and not twins.
6 weeks after your initial procedure, the touch-up session will determine how the skin has responded to the pigment, and any alterations can be made if necessary.
If we are doing dark lip neutralisation, the 12 weeks between sessions will be required.
How long does cosmetic tattooing last?
Cosmetic tattoo treatments generally last for 1-3 years for Brows and 2-5 years for Lip Tattoos, remembering each unique skin type holds pigment differently.
It typically takes two appointments to be completed. During your second perfecting appointment, in most cases, there will be areas that haven’t taken to the pigment; the areas that need addressing are generally very minor.
It should be acknowledged that fading occurs due to many reasons out of our control, including genetics, skin type, products applied to tattooed area and sun exposure.
What factors will affect my cosmetic tattooing?
It is important to know that the results of your cosmetic tattooing will be based on the existing health of your skin and aftercare. Results will vary from person to person, and if you have a pre-existing skin condition or are on medications, these may also affect the procedure.
There are many other factors that may affect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo, including the following:
The time it takes for your body’s skin cells to regenerate will affect how the skin holds the pigment. The longer this process takes, the longer the pigment will hold.
Lighter pigment colours, such as blonde, will fade faster than a dark brown pigment.
Bleeding during the procedure reduces the amount of pigment absorbed.
Smoking causes faster fading.
Sleeping on your face in the first 10 days
Laser treatments, chemical peels, or other medical procedures to the facial area should be cautious of the tattoo area.
Sun exposure will decrease the appearance of the pigment.
Picking, peeling, consent touching, rubbing, prematurely exfoliating (all can cause scarring and patchy results)
Sweating, i.e. working out (sweat produces salt, salt fades pigment)
Not following aftercare instructions properly
How many treatments are needed?
As each person’s healing rate is different, typically, a minimum of two sessions are needed, which occur at least 6 weeks apart for Brows.
Lips a minimum of 2 sessions is required 6-10 weeks apart. If dark lip correction is required, your session will be 12 weeks apart, and you may require more than 2 sessions.
How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?
Healing is different for everyone. In the first few days following the procedure, the pigment will appear dark and thicker, intense redness and swelling may incur, and you most likely will experience some peeling, itching, flaking, and scabs.
It is imperative that you follow the aftercare instructions thoroughly.
After the healing process, the pigment may then gradually disappear and appear lighter in the first week or so but will then gradually reappear.
Please note that the proper aftercare of your Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo investment is vital. It is the Client's responsibility to avoid infection and consult a medical doctor if any symptoms of infection occur.
After your Brow Tattoo, you can return to work immediately; after a lip tattoo, your lips can be swollen for 24-48 hours after the procedure.
Will cosmetic tattooing work well for me?
Not everyone is a candidate for this procedure. Unfortunately, there are some cases where cosmetic tattooing will not work depending on skin type, health/medications, existing hair, and/or lifestyle choices.
Although rare, it is worth noting that some skins do not accept pigment. Iron-deficient or anemic clients should be advised that increased bleeding may occur during the procedure, as well as a faster fading of the pigment over time.
This symptom is also the case for frequent smokers. Clients with oily or darker skin types should acknowledge that machine hair stroke eyebrow tattooing will not work well as the constant oil production and larger pore size will gradually soften the look, blurring the hair strokes; a powder look may be more suited for you.
There ARE NO GUARANTEES made as to how your body will heal. If they fade, blur, or do not take well, that may result from your skin and your lifestyle - not a result of the technique or the technician. No one knows how the client’s skin will heal; a potential risk all clients take when consenting to this procedure.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
Depending on the service, a $100 deposit may be required for all services, which will be applied toward your first or second appointment. This deposit should be paid via Internet banking within 48 hours to secure your booking.
The deposit is non-refundable only if the cancellation policy is not adhered to. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please notify me by phone, email, or through Facebook/Instagram at least 72 hours before your appointment. Cancellations or rescheduling with less than 72 hours' notice will result in the deposit being forfeited.
However, your deposit can be transferred to another booking or refunded if sufficient notice is provided. Please understand that these appointments are lengthy and challenging to rebook on short notice. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
How long will my tattoo appointment take?
The duration of your appointment will depend on the service. For eyebrow treatments, please allow approximately 3 hours for the initial session, with touch-ups typically taking around 2.5 hours.
Yearly touch-ups are generally the same. For lip treatments, each session, including the first and second, usually requires about 3 hours.
Why do I need a touch up appointment?
The reason for a cosmetic tattoo touch up is so we can perfect your brows or lips. It’s our opportunity to see how your skin has healed and how much pigment it has retained and adjust the shape and colour if required.
Mature faces tend to be more sun damaged, and the Brows can heal patchy after the 1st session.
The reason you will need to wait between sessions is so that the skin has time to heal fully and we can see what colour your tattoo is. You will be given a recommended time frame for your touch-up based on your skin type.
How long before I need a refresh?
The refresh varies between individuals and your chosen service. If you are active, have an oily skin type or spend much time outdoors, you may require more regular touch-ups.
Protecting your tattoo from the sun will stop it from fading faster. Usually for brows 12-18 months. If you have a very subtle lip tint tattoo, you may require a yearly touch up, or a lipstick look between 2-5 years - depending on your preference.
